On August 19, 2025, the Green Export Training Program continued with its second session in Ho Chi Minh City, designed for agricultural enterprises interested in sustainable export.

Guest Expert

Mr. Bùi Khánh Tùng – Deputy Technical Director of CODAS, Vietnam Organic Agriculture Association, and an expert with many years of experience in agriculture and sustainability standards.

Topic: “Voluntary Sustainability Standards (VSS) in Agriculture”

The session attracted 40 enterprises across different agricultural, processing, and export sectors. Throughout the training, the expert provided comprehensive insights into:

  • The concept and classification of VSS (Voluntary Sustainability Standards).

  • Differences among VSS and their relevance to various export markets and business models.

  • The role of VSS in enhancing the competitiveness of agricultural businesses within global supply chains.

The expert particularly emphasized:

“Each market favors specific VSS groups, and each standard is linked to particular value chains and benefits. The more businesses understand and choose the right standards, the more they save on costs and efforts, and the easier it becomes to conquer target markets.”

Practical Learning Experience

A key highlight of the session was the group exercise on analyzing VSS in combination with business models. Through teamwork and discussions, enterprises were able to:

  • Recognize the direct benefits of applying VSS.

  • Understand how to integrate sustainability standards into their production and business strategies.

  • Envision a clearer path for Vietnamese agricultural products to access international markets in a green – sustainable – effective way.

The session was filled with lively discussions and candid exchanges between participants and the expert, reflecting the growing interest of Vietnamese businesses in green exports amidst increasingly strict global regulations on environment and sustainability.

Key Takeaways

With over 400 sustainability standards existing in international markets, Vietnamese agricultural enterprises can easily get “lost in the maze” of choices. This session provided:

  • A roadmap to identify the most relevant standards.

  • Practical knowledge to avoid wasting resources when applying VSS.

  • Strategic directions for businesses embarking on the green transition toward sustainable exports.

Connect – Collaborate – Act

Beyond knowledge sharing, the program also created opportunities for enterprises to:

  • Connect with experts and like-minded businesses.

  • Exchange experiences in sustainable agricultural exports.

  • Gradually build a green business ecosystem ready to compete in global markets.

The second training session concluded successfully, leaving participants with valuable insights and renewed motivation for the journey ahead. We look forward to welcoming enterprises to the next session, where more practical knowledge and experiences will be shared to support Vietnamese businesses on their path to green – sustainable – international exports.
