In December, GEVA, in collaboration with Mr. Bùi Khánh Tùng, M.Sc. – Deputy Director of the Center for Organic Agriculture Development Support (VOAA) – conducted a field survey at the coffee-growing areas and production facility of Gaia Coffee in Di Linh District, Lam Dong Province.
Gaia Coffee is an enterprise operating under an integrated value-chain model, linking cultivation, processing, and distribution of high-quality coffee products. Located on the Di Linh Plateau, characterized by a mild climate and fertile basalt soil, Gaia’s coffee-growing area is systematically planned following nature-based practices and is gradually transitioning toward organic farming methods. The farms stand out for their multi-layered vegetation system, including shade trees, windbreak corridors, and natural water sources from a hydropower reservoir, all of which contribute to producing coffee beans that are not only high in quality but also safe and sustainable.
The field survey focused on on-site assessment and providing strategic guidance to support Gaia Coffee in gradually approaching Rainforest Alliance (RA) certification—an international standard for sustainable agriculture—thereby expanding opportunities to access the global green market.
At the end of the day, the delegation, together with Gaia Coffee, visited a representative sustainable coffee model at Thuần Trịnh Farm, developed by Mr. Vinh over nearly 20 years. Although yields declined significantly during the first 5–7 years, the model has successfully restored the farm’s ecosystem: the soil has become loose and fertile, earthworms have flourished, and pests are controlled through natural ecological processes. The system applies agroforestry practices, uses perennial peanut as ground cover, and composts agricultural by-products such as coffee husks, fallen leaves, and durian peels.

The field survey was not only an opportunity to assess the enterprise’s capabilities but also a meaningful platform for connection and for spreading the values of ecological agriculture, sustainable coffee production, and green exports.
About GEVA
The program “Green Export Incubation and Acceleration through Voluntary Sustainability Standards (VSS)” is a project funded by the Swiss Government and co-managed by the International Trade Centre (ITC) and the Trade Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam. The program is operated by KisStartup JSC during the period from April 2025 to April 2026.
The project aims to enhance Vietnamese enterprises’ green export capacity through the adoption of VSS by implementing a series of training, consulting, incubation–acceleration activities, and international market linkages, helping businesses meet the increasingly stringent requirements of global markets.
